Field School Schedule

All lectures and field trips are organized with our volunteer staff in mind. Below you will find a typical lecture schedule, including previous topics and lecturers. A final field school schedule will be available in the spring prior to the excavation. Names of lecturers not marked with an asterisk are members of the The Zeitah Excavations professional staff.

Some Previous Guest Speakers

Zvi Lederman is a professor of the archaeology of Israel and co-directs the current excavations at Tel Beth-Shemesh.

Trude Dothan, of the Institute of Archaeology, Hebrew University, Jerusalem, co-directed the excavations at Tel Miqne/Ekron.

William Dever is professor of Near Eastern Archaeology and Anthropology at the University of Arizona. He directed the excavations at Gezer.

Steve Lancaster has served as a lecturer in the biblical geography of Israel and a field trip guide for Jerusalem University College for the past seven years.

Eliezer Oren is Professor of Archaeology at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Beersheba. He directed the excavations at Tel Haror/Gerar and multiple sites along the north Sinai coast.

Lawrence Stager is Dorot Professor of the Archaeology of Israel at Harvard University and directs The Leon Levy Expedition to Ashkelon.

Seymour Gitin is Director of the Albright Institute of Archaeological Research, Jerusalem. He co-directed the excavations at Tel Miqne/Ekron.

Hanan Eshel is a professor of historical geography at Bar Ilan University near Tel Aviv and at Hebrew University, Jerusalem. He is an expert in Qumran studies and the Samaria Ostraca.
